  • MACHINE QUILTING

    So you have made your quilt top – now what do you do?  Register for Geri’s class and learn how to use your walking and your free motion feet using your own machine.  She teaches you the basics of preparing a quilt top for quilting; stitching-in-the-ditch, stippling and pattern quilting; and mastering quilting techniques using your own home sewing machine.  Geri says quilting is fun and easy….and…if she can do it, so can you.

    Learn how to use a rotary cutter with a cutting mat, cut straight strips, sew a 1/4 inch seam, and piece a 9-patch piece block. Finish the quilt by making the quilt sandwich and binding the quilt. From start to completion, Cynthia helps you gain the knowledge and skills to construct this machine pieced quilt.

  • KIDSEW I

    Instructor: Veronica Thomas-Cherry

    Veronica introduces your child to the wonderful world of sewing in this three-part class. Your child learns the basics of sewing and using a sewing machine. Your child goes home with finished projects such as a pillow, a coin purse, a handy tissue holder, and other useful projects. This is a fun class that gives your child skills that will last a lifetime. This class is great for kids working on scout badges.  If your child has taken this class before, he or she may still sign up.  The class fee includes a kit fee valued at $20.00, so no need to shop for fabrics.

    Well, we have talked Geri into teaching the Latte Quilt class YEAH!!!!!!! The Latte Quilt uses both embroidery designs as well as fancy sewing machine stitches.  She guides everyone from the novice to the expert, step-by-step, to produce a truly amazing quilt. You make different blocks each month, then assemble them into a gorgeous quilt.  If you love elegant embroidery in a quilt, this is the class for you.

    Pants are basic to every wardrobe, but fitting them can be a challenge.  Joyce guides you through the steps, taking proper measurements, selecting the pattern, and altering the pattern to creating that perfect fit.  You create a muslin master pattern that DOES fit you.

    Are you confused about sewing zippers? Need some help? Jackie teaches you how to install  centered, lapped, and invisible zippers. You’ll be surprised how easy putting in a zipper can be.

     Now for the next step! Get personal attention learning new skills as you advance in your sewing with Joyce.  You select the project and Joyce guides you through to completion.  Many students take this class again and again, selecting more challenging projects each time.  Teenagers are welcome.

    Now that you have down the basics, let’s try something a little more challenging.  Learn to make a simple blouse, shirt, or jacket from a pattern or a project that you have started and wanted to complete. Veronica shows you that collars, sleeves, buttonholes, and linings are easy to construct. Join the group, and sign up for this fun and informative class.  Many customers take this class again and again, selecting more challenging projects each time.  Teens are welcome.

    In this class you learn the basics of sewing, and you complete a project.  You make a pair of pajama pants with an elastic waist and a T-shirt. This is all about CONSTRUCTION, in this case using fabric.  Come join in on a new and adventurous way to hang out with the guys — learning to sew with Veronica.
